What is The Granada Theatre?

Built in 1924, the Granada Theatre opened as a dazzling new performing arts venue located in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, California. Following a recent monumental restoration and nearly eighty-four years after first opening its doors, this storied entertainment palace has returned to life as the crown jewel of Santa Barbara’s historic cultural district. A very active venue, the 1,553-seat Granada Theatre is open year round, providing a home for resident company performances as well as for shows mounted by regional and national concert promoters.

What types of shows does The Granada Theatre offer?

A wide range of shows and artists appealing to diverse and varied audiences are presented at the Granada Theatre.  The Granada Theatre Concert Series showcases the finest in popular entertainers.  The Broadway Series offers the best in live musical theatre. How can I purchase tickets to a performances at The Granada Theatre?

Tickets are available online, by phone and also at the box office. The box office is open Tuesday-Saturday 12:30am to 5:30pm, and will also remain open until 1/2 hour after a performance starts. What is the Santa Barbara Center for the Performing Arts?

The SBCPA, a privately-funded 501(c)(3) corporation established in 1983, is dedicated to providing best-in-class production, sales and administrative support to arts organizations from throughout the Santa Barbara region, including its Historic Theatre District partners (Lobero Theatre and the New Vic Theatre) as well as its eight resident companies (CAMA, Music Academy of the West, Opera Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Choral Society, Santa Barbara Symphony, State Street Ballet, Theater League and UCSB Arts & Lectures). The SBCPA’s most visible service is operation of The Granada Theatre.

The Granada Theatre has seven Resident Companies including: American Theatre Guild, The Community Art and Music Association (CAMA), Music Academy of the West, Opera Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Symphony, State Street Ballet,  and UCSB Arts & Lectures. Where is the closest parking to The Granada Theatre?

Paid parking is available in a variety of downtown city operated parking lots. The lot closest to The Granada Theatre is located behind the theatre at 1221 Anacapa Street, between Victoria Street and Anapamu Street, and there are parking entrances on both Anacapa and Anapamu. A special event parking fee may be charged in this lot.

During non-event hours, the first 75 minutes of parking is free (courtesy of Downtown businesses) and each additional hour or part is $1.50. To get to the theatre entrance or the box office, please exit the garage at the northwest corner of the building, and proceed toward State Street through the paseo and turn left.
