“...mesmerizing masterminds of musical meditation and muscle...”
– GAZETTE OF MONTREAL
The Flying Karamazov Brothers are "a continuing experiment in comedy, theatre, music and, of course, juggling." They blend the worlds of performance art, improvisation, word play, harmony, emotion and above all virtuosity into a unique form of theatre and entertainment.
Comedy is the Brothers' bread and butter and they layer it on so that children of 2 or 92 will laugh at the same moment for very different reasons. Their main contention is that errors make us human but by working together we approach the divine. For the Brothers, juggling is dropping.
"4PLAY" is the latest show by the Flying Karamazov Brothers. The show is a unique blend of cirque, visual music, dance and theatre. The Brothers mix visual fireworks, visceral physicality and theatrical innovation to create a post-modern sensibility where anything is possible. Their method is to combine skill and scope to form a work that is kaleidoscopic and passionate.
Ground-breaking and provocative, the four brothers use their many talents to demonstrate that chaos and unexpected events in our lives is the stuff that makes us human.

THE PEKING ACROBATS
JAN. 16
|
“...gymnastic displays of such awesome pyrotechnics that they knocked the audience on its ear.”
– ANCHORAGE DAILY NEWS
China’s most gifted gymnasts, tumblers, contortionists and jugglers bring their 2000-year-old tradition of physical artistry to life with all the pageantry and spectacle of the modern Chinese Carnival! The Peking Acrobats defy the laws of body mechanics (and physics) with raw physical virtuosity and jaw-dropping feats that border on the surreal.
Witness daring maneuvers, treacherous balancing acts, and astonishing displays of flexibility, control and grace.
One major dance reviewer remarks, “It’s like watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon live… uplifting, awe-inspiring and an exploration of the full extent of human potential.”

“The pounding feet and agile bodies, the drums and vibrant human voices, all send a message - one of courage and hope.”
– THE VILLAGE VOICE
“Invigorating the stage with that elusive thing called joy,” says The New York Times, Spirit of Uganda is a riveting program of music and dance for audiences of all ages. The melodic tones of standing drums, dramatic choreography, bright, layered rhythms, gorgeous vocals and a vibrant cast of performers bring to life the sounds and movements of East Africa.
Ambassadors for Uganda’s 2.4 million orphans, Spirit of Uganda celebrates the cultural roots and newer offshoots of this lush and diverse nation. These endearing performers personify the resilience and promise of Africa’s next generation as they promote awareness of Uganda’s dual crises of AIDS and civil war, and raise funds to support themselves and others displaced in their homeland.

“Scrap rocks!”
– THE EDMONTON JOURNAL
Five extraordinary musicians deliver adrenaline-laced performances using more than 145 invented instruments hand-crafted from the shiniest metal you’ll ever see. All original music on one-of-a-kind mobile sculptures.
ScrapArtsMusic excites the senses with intricate rhythms, raw energy, athletic choreography and the greenest, most inventive reuse of materials on stage today. Fashioned from industrial scrap and offbeat materials ranging from accordion parts to artillery shells, ScrapArtsMusic’s unique instruments are as visually striking as their music is sonically riveting. Audiences from four continents have welcomed this electrifying quintet with unbridled enthusiasm, embracing their intoxicating mix of music, movement and spectacle. Transcending language, culture and age, ScrapArtsMusic offers a highly physical, wildly theatrical and thoroughly entertaining taste of the musical vanguard.
While ScrapArtsMusic has become renowned for its energetic, highly physical performances, the group keeps its focus first and foremost on the music. Using hand-forged instruments to play original music, ScrapArtsMusic builds on the traditions of world percussion and “outsider music” fuelled by genre-defying trailblazers such as Harry Partch, Wendy Mae Chambers and the Baschet Brothers. ScrapArtsMusic’s music draws on established world music traditions and infuses it with 21st Century sensibilities to create infectious music that sounds like nothing else. The Topeka Capital-Journal says “The quintet’s emotionally stirring music made the point that percussion music can be more than mere stomps or bangs on cans.”
