The Peking Acrobats
2009 World Tour
“ ... gymnastic displays of such awesome pyrotechnics that they knocked the audience on its ear.”
– Anchorage Daily News
China’s most gifted gymnasts, tumblers, contortionists and jugglers bring their 2000-year-old tradition of physical artistry to life with all the pageantry and spectacle of the modern Chinese Carnival! The Peking Acrobats defy the laws of body mechanics (and physics) with raw physical virtuosity and jaw-dropping feats that border on the surreal.
Witness daring maneuvers, treacherous balancing acts, and astonishing displays of flexibility, control and grace.
One major dance reviewer remarks, “It’s like watching Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon live… uplifting, awe-inspiring and an exploration of the full extent of human potential.”
In China, high honor is conferred on one skilled enough to become an acrobat, who can be considered the equivalent of an American opera star.

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY
25th Anniversary Special Edition
Created & Written by Gerard Alessandrini
FEATURING STARS OF THE 2006 TONY AWARD WINNING NEW YORK PRODUCTION!
Where can you see 31 Broadway shows in 97 minutes, leaving you breathless with laughter while you’re humming along?
One of the most highly acclaimed musical comedies ever descends upon Santa Barbara this June for an 8-performance run at The Granada. FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, starring members of the Award-winning New York cast, brings its poking, prodding, teasing, pleasing, jeering and cheering roast of the top Broadway hits from yesterday and today to The Granada stage for what has been dubbed “one of the funniest evenings on or Off-Broadway!”
If you haven’t seen CATS, PHANTOM, LES MIS, THE PRODUCERS, or THE LION KING, take heart, Variety says “You don't have to be a Broadway musical fanatic to enjoy this immensely entertaining show!”
The New York Times raves, “FORBIDDEN BROADWAY is absolutely hilarious! Critic's choice!” The New York Post calls it “Sassy, brassy, sexy, outrageous, quick, clever and hilarious!" The Los Angeles Weekly proclaims “Outrageous hilarity! The cast is brilliant! Pick of the week!” Variety dubs it “Rip-roaring with an amazing cast!” And Time Magazine has called FORBIDDEN BROADWAY “One of the year's 10 best!”
FORBIDDEN BROADWAY was first seen at Palsson's Supper Club on New York's Upper West Side in January 1982. An unemployed actor, Gerard Alessandrini, wanted a showcase for his talents. He decided to assemble some of the musical parodies of Broadway shows he had written since childhood into a nightclub act. Critics and audiences were wowed and it has since become New York's longest running musical comedy revue.
