Engaging, Inspiring and Enriching Our Community

The Granada Theatre is redefining excellence in the performing arts for all of California’s central coast. Unlike many performing arts centers around the world, The Granada Theatre does not receive on-going financial support from local or state government. But, like most world class theaters, The Granada Theatre covers only half its annual budget through ticket sales and other earned income. This means that each year The Granada Theatre benefits from private funding and community support to maintain the level of excellence in programming and operations that our audiences and the theater’s eight resident companies expect.
The Jurkowitz Center for Community Engagement represents The Granada Theatre's commitment to ensuring the "entire community" is actively engaged with and inspired by the theater and is central to The Granada Theatre’s mission to serve "as a vibrant, welcoming venue promoting appreciation for excellence in the performing arts and enhancing the quality of life in our community." As part of the theater’s ongoing community engagement efforts, The Granada Theatre regularly presents family-oriented performances, often accompanied by “meet-and-greet the artists” opportunities. Every year, The Granada Theatre also underwrites facility fees for education programming held at the theater by the Santa Barbara Symphony and Music Academy of the West, as well as the annual San Marcos High School student-led fundraiser Kids Helping Kids. The Jurkowitz Center future activities will include an array of engagement and educational programs, accomplished by working in close partnership with The Granada Theater’s resident companies, local schools, social service and community organizations, as well as other theaters and major arts organizations.
Let’s make a difference together: get involved in a way that is meaningful to you. Help us secure the future and realize the full potential of our historic Granada Theatre. A contribution from you at any level helps The Granada Theatre bring the very best in the performing arts from around the world for the entire community.
