Phones & Other Electronic Devices

As a courtesy to both patrons and performers, the use of cell phones or other electronic devices during performances is strictly prohibited unless otherwise noted for the use of digital programs.

Photography & Recording

As a general rule, photography and recording are discouraged within the venue. However, exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis for certain events with prior approval. Patrons are kindly asked to respect the performers and fellow audience members by refraining from unauthorized photography or recording. Please inquire with venue staff for specific guidelines regarding each event.

Seating, Standing, & Dancing

For the safety and comfort of our patrons, standing or dancing during performances is generally prohibited, and is strictly prohibited in the front row of the balcony or boxes. Please stay in your assigned seat and avoid standing or loitering in aisles and stairways as fire code regulations require they be clear at all times.

The Granada Theatre is a smoke-free facility consistent with Santa Barbara County and Santa Barbara City ordinances. The use of tobacco, vaping, or marijuana is strictly prohibited inside the theatre, including lobbies and restrooms.

Food & Beverage

No outside food or drinks are permitted. Patrons are expected to obey all state and local laws governing the purchase, possession, and consumption of alcohol.

Commitment to Accessibility & Safety

The Americans with Disabilities Act and several California State Laws were enacted to promote equal access for everyone. The Granada Theatre is committed to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all patrons, including accessibility for patrons who use wheelchairs or are otherwise mobility-limited, patrons with limited hearing or vision, and patrons who use service animals. The Granada Theatre is equipped with accessible doorways, pedestrian routes, ramps, elevators, and restrooms. The following guidelines outline how we maximize accessibility while also ensuring safety.

Federal and California law require that The Granada Theatre provide an environment that is safe for patrons, performers, and workers, including ensuring that all such people can be evacuated safely and quickly from the Theatre in the event of an emergency.  For safety reasons, the Granada Theatre reserves the right to assign patrons to seats other than the seat the patron purchased if, in the opinion of the Granada Theatre staff, seating the patron in the seat the patron purchased may interfere with safe and speedy evacuation of the Theatre.

For more information, please review our Accessibility Statement.

Accessible Seating

The Granada Theatre offers wheelchair-accessible and companion seating in each price section and on both the Orchestra and Balcony levels. Patrons in wheelchairs also have the option of transferring to designated seats. Individuals purchasing a ticket for an accessible seat may purchase up to three (3) additional seats for their companions in the same row and that are contiguous with the accessible seat. If contiguous seats have already been sold and are not available, the Granada Theatre will offer other seats as close to the accessible seats as possible. Please contact the Box Office to reserve wheelchair seating or request assistance.

Listening Devices

The Granada Theatre has the Hearing Loop system, a wireless technology that transmits speech or music on stage directly to guests’ cochlear implants and hearing aids with T-coils. Patrons will hear sound picked up by the theatre’s PA system rather than from the microphone in an implant or hearing aid, resulting in a clear sound with less background noise. Please inquire with a Volunteer Ambassador when you arrive at the theater.

Service Animals/Pets

Only trained service animals and service animals in training for patrons with disabilities are allowed inside The Granada Theatre. Emotional support animals and pets are not permitted. Service animals must be leashed or harnessed at all times and remain with their owner. They will sit with their owner, not in the aisle. Any service animal causing a disturbance or posing a safety threat may be asked to leave. Patrons may sit in any seat where their service animal can remain at their feet or on their lap without obstructing pathways, though accessible seating is recommended as it provides additional space and comfort.

Procedure for the Evaluation of Safety Issues

To ensure safe and speedy evacuation in an emergency, Granada Theatre staff may reseat patrons whose mobility, personal items, or circumstances could impede exit routes. Staff will visually assess potential issues, with the House Manager making the final determination and working directly with the patron to resolve concerns. Patrons may be moved to seats that better support safety, such as aisles or areas near exits, without being asked to share confidential medical information. If a patron refuses to move, the House Manager has discretion to delay the show and, if necessary, involve law enforcement as a last resort. The priority is audience safety, and every effort will be made to resolve situations respectfully and without escalation.
