“I remember limos bringing stars in front of The Granada Theatre.
You could see them all front and center. So glamorous!”

The Movie Palace Years – A Brief Revue

From the moment it opened in 1924, The Granada — the “biggest stage on the Pacific Coast, fully equipped for attractions of any size” — played a vital role as a showcase for the popular new form of entertainment: Motion Pictures!

In 1930, with the advent of talkies, Warner Brothers acquired The Granada, designating it a flagship Warner Movie Palace. And for the next three decades, The Granada was the host to multiple star-studded film premieres, dozens of Hollywood “sneak previews” and a showcase for first run features.

We’ve assembled a highlights montage of some of the truly memorable films that had their first screenings at The Granada.
